Soviet Closed Cities

During the cold war the USSR wanted to hide the existence of some of their cities from the world, usually because they housed nuclear or military development facilities. They didn't appear on any maps, traffic signs or train routes. It was forbidden to travel there without special permits, something enforced by road blocks on each route in. The cites were revealed at various points after the collapse of the USSR, but some of them remain closed today.
